Festival of Trees opens

Posted: Updated:

The Festival of Trees is in its 11th year inside Springfield's Tower Square. Lights and ornaments decorate more than 100 trees, which local businesses and families have donated. The Festival of Trees opened an hour before Tower Square's Parade of the Big Balloons.

Kids of all ages will enjoy the festival. Jordan Gaj, of Monson, walked through the festival with her family.

"I feel excited because all of the trees are beautiful," she said. "I've seen a rocket tree and a chef tree. My mom is a caterer and she could use some more stuff."

You and your family can take a walk through the enchanted forest until Dec. 11. Festival of Trees is open Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission tickets for the Festival of Trees are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and students. Children under 12 are free. Currently active military families do not have to pay admission. Tower Square is located at 1500 Main St. in Springfield.
