After more than a month of nesting, the last of four baby falcons took flight from its perch on Monarch Place on Monday.
The falcons, three males and one female, were hatched in early May at a nest located on the 21st floor of Monarch Place in downtown Springfield. The three males took flight over the weekend, and the fourth chick took flight on Monday afternoon.
Although the falcons have left the nest on Monarch Place, they are still in downtown Springfield, spending most of their time on the roof of the Sovereign Bank building.
Because the falcons now spend the majority of their time out of camera range, CBS 3 Springfield's "Falcon Cam" has been discontinued. If the falcons return to nest in 2013, the camera will return.
