PD: Man leaves his two kids in car while buying drugs

Posted: Updated:

A Holyoke man is under arrest after the police department's narcotics division reportedly noticed him making a drug transaction.

Police said Pavil Lavrinenko spent about 10 minutes in a known drug location, leaving his two young children alone in his running car in direct sunlight.

Police believe Lavrinenko sniffed at least one bag of heroin as he drove away from the Northampton Street address.

Officers pulled him over and arrested him. That's when they noticed his 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter in the backseat.

Lavrinenko faces charges of possession of a class A substance as well as two counts of child endangerment.

The Department of Children and Families was notified, and they now have custody of the two young children.
