9 Picks: Saints and Jags forecast not a good one, Tigers continue Bama preps

Posted: Updated:

A great weekend for 9 Picks, although we somehow picked 10 games! LSU is taking the week off with the Crimson Tide rolling in next week. The Saints travel to play Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos and Southern travels to Shreveport to play Prairie View A&M.

Here we go:

New Orleans Saints (2-4) at Denver Broncos (3-3)

After a wild victory against the Bucs, the Saints travel to Denver to play the Broncos. The Saints defense will be facing Peyton Manning, who must be thrilled to face off against a unit that made Josh Freeman look like a Pro Bowl quarterback. Joe Vitt returns to the sidelines this Sunday, but the Saints need more than him to win this one. Having a wife from Denver makes this pick even harder to make - Broncos in a shootout:

Denver: 42   New Orleans: 28

Southern (3-4) vs. Prairie View (2-5)

The Jags travel to Shreveport to play the Panthers. Southern struggled this past weekend against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Panthers have won two in a row after dropping their first five games of the season. Make it six in a row for Prairie View:

Prairie View: 30    Southern: 20

(2) Florida (7-0) vs. (10) Georgia (6-1)

SEC's Game of the Week. The Gators are playing great football. Wins have included Texas A&M, LSU and South Carolina. Georgia has played one ranked team, South Carolina and had already loss that game after the first quarter. You just keep waiting for Florida to lose, but they don't and won't this week:

Florida: 30   UGA: 20

(11) Miss. State (7-0) at (1) Alabama (7-0)

Talk about great scheduling breaks. Miss. State has not played a ranked opponent this season and Alabama has played one, a questionable one at that, Michigan. This looks to be a low scoring SEC showdown with Alabama getting its last hurdle out of the way before it comes to Baton Rouge next Saturday. Tide rolls again:

Alabama: 27     Mississippi State: 10

Tennessee (3-4) at (13) South Carolina (6-2)

Well somebody will have to pay for the Gamecocks last two beat downs. After losses to LSU and Florida, South Carolina will be looking to bounce back and Derek Dooley's "hot seat' gets a little hotter and the rumors of Jon Gruden get louder:

South Carolina: 27    Tennessee: 17

Kentucky (1-7) at Missouri (3-4)

Two teams looking for their first SEC victory. Kentucky played Georgia tough losing 29-24, while Missouri got pounded by Alabama, 42-10. My guess, Mizzou is still feeling the sting and pain of that loss - Wildcats in an upset:

Kentucky: 23    Missouri: 20

Ole Miss (4-3) at Arkansas (3-4)

This actually looks like it could be an entertaining game. Ole Miss can put points on the board, but they also allow a bunch of points. Arkansas has won two games in a row, giving up only seven points in each game. OK, it was Auburn and Kentucky. Going to take the Hogs in this one, make it three wins in a row:

Arkansas: 38    Ole Miss: 28

(20) Texas A&M (5-2) at Auburn (1-6)

What better way to rebound from a tough loss? The answer is Auburn of course. The Tigers are just playing out the rest of the season, waiting to see if a new coach is on the way. The Aggies are averaging 43.0 points and 524.6 total yards a game. A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will run wild as the Aggies bring more dismay to the Auburn faithful:

Texas A&M: 44     Auburn: 17

Big Matchup this Saturday:

(5) Notre Dame (7-0) at (8) Oklahoma (5-1)

Just the team names get you pumped up for this one. Notre Dame is fighting for a chance to play in the BCS title game. Oklahoma is looking to get back in position to make a move in the BCS. Both teams boast very good defenses, but the Sooners offense is this difference in this one:

Oklahoma: 27   Notre Dame: 14

LAST WEEK: 8-2 ... SEASON TOTAL: 38-15
