Westfield woman, infant found in Virginia

A 28-year-old Westfield woman and her 3-month-old daughter have been found in the state of Virginia after a day-long search that sparked an Amber Alert.

Police said that they were able to find the woman, Cheryl Kozaczek, and her daughter, Gaebria, by tracking Cheryl's cell phone.

Kozaczek's family who resides at 80 Woodmont St., in Westfield, said that she left that home at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday with Gaebria.

Kozaczek does not have legal custody of the child. Until this morning Kozaczek's mother, Katheryn, was the child's guardian.

Virginia State Police stopped Kozaczek in the town of Emporia just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. She was taken into custody and arrested for kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle. Gaebria was found unharmed.

Kozaczek's family said that she has some emotional problems that she is supposed to be in treatment for but is not. Her father, Michael Kozaczek, told CBS 3 a court custody hearing was scheduled for Wednesday morning and he believes that is the reason that Cheryl Kozaczek took the baby. Michael Kozaczek said at the hearing Gaebria was put temporary custody of the state.
