A 16-year-old California girl is lucky to be OK after being bitten six times by rattlesnakes.
Vera Oliphant was walking up a hill about two weeks ago looking for a cell phone signal when she stepped into a pit of snakes.
She is recovering at home after four days in intensive care.
The teen offered a few tips for anyone in the desert searching for cell phone reception.
"If you're in the deser, for one, wear boots, and two, don't bring your cell phone or go searching for reception because you won't find it anyway and you might step into a pit of rattlesnakes," she said.
Doctors say if anyone is bitten by a snake, it is important to remember one might have more time than they think they do.
The most important thing is to get to the emergency room as soon as possible.
