A 25-year-old Tempe man faces animal cruelty charges in connection with the death of a dog, police said.
David Goodrich was booked into Tempe City Jail on Saturday.
Goodrich was arrested after the dog's owner returned to find Goodrich cleaning up blood from the floor of Goodrich's home, according to a court document.
Police said Goodrich initially told them he accidentally stepped on the dog's head. Investigators said Goodrich changed his story several times during a police interview.
Officers said the whereabouts of the dead dog is still not known.
