Small turnout for "Deal For All" rally in Springfield

Posted: Updated:

A rally for a "Deal for All" campaign drew a small crowd to Main Street in Springfield Thursday. Just over one dozen people turned out to show their support for the measure, which aims to prevent cuts to domestic human needs programs, including Medicare and Social Security, in federal budget negotiations.

The question passed by a margin of 3 to 1 in 91 Massachusetts towns where it appeared on November's election ballots.

Thursday's rally was to call on U.S. senators John Kerry and Scott Brown to endorse the federal "Deal For All" bill, which is currently making its way through Capitol Hill. That bill has been endorsed by 41 members of Congress, including retiring U.S. Rep. John Olver.
