Dial-a-Ride to safety this New Years Eve

Posted: Updated:

If you do ring in the New Year with too many cocktails, a few local businesses want to make sure you get home safe after the big celebration.

The United Way of Pioneer Valley is once again teaming up with Yellow Cab in Springfield, Williams Distributing, Rock 102 and Lazer 99.3 to offer the Dial-a-Ride program.

A free ride home will be available on New Year's Eve starting at 8 p.m., and will continue through 6 a.m. on New Year's Day.

Dial-a-Ride passengers will be driven only to the address on their driver's license.

"Whether it's one individual, or hundreds of individuals, it's really about safety. If we can provide safe transport for one, or the masses, we know, the community knows, that individual is getting home, making it home, safe," said Raymond Berry, vice president of the United Way of Pioneer Valley in Springfield.

To arrange a safe ride, call Yellow Cab at 413-739-9999.
