Sen. Warren opens Springfield office

Newly sworn-in Sen. Elizabeth Warren greeted constituents outside her new Springfield office at 1550 Main Street Tuesday morning, telling a crowd her presence in the area will be strong.

"I want to be closely tied to the people of western Massachusetts," Warren said.

The democratic senator says she is building her staff and wants to have a presence here in western Massachusetts.

Following a press conference, Warren tackled issues ranging from Sen. John Kerry's Senate seat to gun control.

Warren says she will not endorse anyone at the moment for the seat, but did talk about former Sen. Scott Brown, who she beat in the Senate race.

"I don't think I'm going to surprise anybody when I say I didn't vote for him, but I'll be out there for anybody who will be working on behalf of our families," she said.

Warren says she will stay true to her campaign promises emphasizing education and economy as two top priorities.

"It's about building a future and that means education, it means transportation, it means communication, it means investment in clean energy, it means those things that let us build an economy going forward and having a well-educated workforce."
