Posted: Updated:

One Springfield man is under arrest and second suspect is on the run after home invasion Monday night.

Sgt. John Delaney, of Springfield Police Department says the 39-year-old female victim called 911 after two hooded males broke into her Beacon Circle home around 11:30 p.m. Monday. She claimed one of the suspects was carrying a handgun and struck her on the side of her face.  She also claimed a second man stole her prescription drugs, which included Ativam, Paxil, Clonopin and Abilify.

Officer Anthony Tyler responded, and saw two black, hooded men inside of a silver SUV.  He followed the vehicle onto North Branch Parkway, and eventually stopped it on Duggon Circle where one suspect ran away. Officer Tyler arrested 30-year-old Thomas Marrero.

Marrero is charged with home invasion (firearmed) and refusing to stop for police. He is being held without bail.

Police say this is the second time Marrero has been involved in a car chase in the last few months.
