Penguin Plunge held at Hampton Ponds

Posted: Updated:

If you thought it was just too cold to do anything outside on Saturday, there is a group of people in Westfield who would beg to differ.

Hampton Ponds was the site of the ninth annual Penguin Plunge.

The event, which involved people jumping in the icy cold lake on a 20-degree day, is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Amelia Park Children's Museum.

In order to be a plunger, each person had to raise a minimum of $50 for the museum.

CBS 3 Springfield was a proud sponsor of the event.

Our very own Nick Morganelli stayed dry, but served as the Penguin Plunge emcee.
