Bish family reacts to latest case developments

Posted: Updated:

Evidence in the unsolved murder of 16-year-old Molly Bish is being sent to a private lab in Dallas, TX, for DNA testing.

That evidence was sitting in a state police crime lab here in Massachusetts for almost a year. Molly's sister Heather Bish tells CBS 3 that she and her family were actually expecting to hear any day now the results of the testing. But, last week they learned the wait will be at least a few months longer.

"We were very disappointed to learn that the testing that was submitted last year and 9 months ago from Rodney Stanger's trailer wasn't tested at all," said Heather Bish. "We were really expecting it any day now and had been told that it would be coming forward any day now. So when we found out it wasn't tested at all it was really quite disappointing."

But, Heather says she is hopeful that her family will get answers soon.

"I am very hopeful that we will have our answers in a couple of months," said Heather Bish.

It's been almost 13 years since Molly disappeared from Comins Pond in Warren where she was a lifeguard. Her body was found three years later in the woods in Palmer and though there have been many suspects throughout the last decade no arrests have been made.

Last summer a collection of children's hair combs and barrettes were recovered from convicted murder Rodney Stanger's trailer in Florida. He is a person of interest in the case and Heather say's she anxious to learn whether DNA evidence links him to her sister's death.

"We've had so many suspects over the years, it's been quite a roller coaster," said Heather Bish. "I'm not sure. But, I'd like to at least rule him out."
