State police called in as Hampshire Mall evacuated

Posted: Updated:

The Hampshire Mall was evacuated around 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon due to a suspicious truck parked in the mall's parking lot.

The Hadley Police Department tells CBS 3 that the white Ryder box truck turned out to be loaded with books.

The parking lot had been cordoned off for over four hours and people had to wait to get back to their cars.

The Massachusetts State Police were called in to help with the investigation.

Hadley police said the "all clear" has been given and people will be allowed back into the parking lot once the vehicle is towed away.
