Driver will not be charged after colliding with motorcycle in Holyoke

Posted: Updated:

There is more information on the fatal accident that killed 41-year-old Rolando Colon of Holyoke on the evening of April 27.

The Holyoke Police Department will not file charges against the driver of the Honda involved.

Holyoke Police Department traffic investigators determined the Honda could not have avoided the accident because of the excessive speed the motorcycle was traveling at.

The operator of the motorcycle, Colon, collided into the Honda, sending the bike skidding several feet down the road where it exploded into flames and burned.

Colon died of severe blunt force trauma caused by the collision.

Investigators were able to gather a recording of the accident from a nearby camera where it was reviewed by the district attorney and determined that the state could not go forward with charges against the operator of the car.
