The Auburn baseball team, seeded 10th, will face a familiar foe in the first round of next week's Southeastern Conference Tournament as it is set to face seventh-seeded and in-state rival Alabama on Tuesday at the Hoover Met. The game will be the second game of session one, game one beings at 9:30am CT, and will be televised by FSN and available on the Auburn IMG Network's baseball affiliates.
Auburn finished the year 13-17 in the SEC, winning its final three series, two of which came over ranked opponents. Auburn defeated No. 18 Ole Miss, won at Florida and ended the season by winning two-of-three at home against No. 11 Arkansas to secure its fourth consecutive SEC Tournament berth.
Alabama finished the season 14-15, finishing fifth in the SEC West.
The winner of the Auburn-Alabama game will face No. 2 seed and SEC West Champion LSU at on Wednesday in the second game of the first session of the day.
Auburn fell to Alabama in the regular-season series, two games to one, in the third weekend series for both. Alabama won the first game, 6-2, and the series finale, 2-0, while Auburn won the middle game, 6-3.
Auburn also defeated Alabama, 6-3, in the annual Capital City Classic on March 5 at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
Auburn's first-round matchup with Alabama will be its first meeting against its in-state foe at the SEC Tournament since the 2010 Tournament.
Auburn is 30-41 all-time at the SEC Tournament and 3-5 all-time against Alabama at the SEC Tournament.
