Active shooter training held at H.C.C.

Posted: Updated:

A multi-agency active shooter training drill was held at Holyoke Community College Wednesday.

The Holyoke fire department, police department, and state police were among the several agencies to participate.

One of the scenarios today was for emergency responders to find an active shooter inside the school using new technology including glasses with cameras on them and a GPS system.

"By all the agencies being able to work together it makes the operation hopefully go a lot smoother. But instead of calling on people at the last minute we are drilling so we know who to call, when to call and how the operation will take place," said Lt. Thomas Paquin of the Holyoke Fire Department.

The drill did extend beyond the HCC campus. The injured victims were triaged on scene by the fire department and AMR then taken to Holyoke Hospital where the drill continued.
