Springfield rewarded $21.8 million for disaster relief

Springfield has been rewarded $21.8 million in Community Development Block Grant Disaster relief funds.

The funds will go toward disaster-related relief, long-term recovery and restoring businesses and homes most impacted as a result of the storms that hit Springfield in 2011.

Meetings will be held in Springfield to address the infrastructure, job training, business assistance and rebuilding homes and neighborhoods.

The meetings will take place on July 10 and July 17 at the JC Williams Community Center located at 116 Florence St. at 5:30 p.m.

A meeting will also be held July 11 at the Italian Cultural Center at Margaret Street at 5:30 p.m.
