A man shot Thursday night on South Seventh Street is expected to be OK, authorities reported.
Metro Police responded to a call of shots fired around 10:25 p.m. in the area of 740 S. Seventh St. Officers arrived on the scene and collected several shell casings, but could not find a victim or witnesses.
About 15 minutes later, police reported a victim had shown up at Vanderbilt University Medical Center who claimed to have been shot on South Seventh Street.
The victim, 25, said he was in the area to visit his brother, who was not at home. The victim then met a female friend who lives in the area.
While the victim was talking to the female, he told police he was approached by a male wearing a lime green shirt and khaki pants.
The suspect was armed with a handgun and started shooting at the victim.
The victim ran away but was struck once in the lower buttocks area. His injuries are non-life threatening.
