A cement mixer truck ended up in Bartlett Lake early Thursday morning after the driver's brakes reportedly went out.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Hegstrom said the truck left the roadway and went into the lake in Maricopa before 6 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities said the driver is OK.
Rural Metro spokesman Colin Williams said the hill the driver was on has a reputation for burning out truck brakes and in the past, other heavy trucks have had issues on the hill.
Bartlett Lake is about 45 minutes northeast of Phoenix.
