Nude man exposes self to kids on AZ trail

Posted: Updated:

Yavapai County authorities are looking for a man in his early 20s who exposed himself to a group of hikers, including some foster kids, on Saturday.

The hikers, three adults and eight female kids, were on the Baldwin Trail at Cathedral Rock in the Village of Oak Creek.  About 10 minutes into the hike, the group encountered the man standing in the creek with his back toward them, water to his knees, and wearing no clothes, said Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn.

When the man saw the group, he turned toward them while jumping up and down in an attempt to direct the group's attention toward him, D'Evelyn said.

The adults escorted the kids away from the area but later saw the man again, still completely nude, walking near the trail. He made another effort to expose himself to the kids by jumping  into an open area and then running out of sight.

Some of the children said the suspect made eye contact and was smiling, D'Evelyn said. One of the adults told him to put some clothes on and he ignored her as he ran away.

The suspect is described as between 6' to 6'1" tall and in his mid to late 20s. He has brown hair just about long enough to tuck behind the ears.

Deputies searched the area for a suspect, but no one was located matching the description.
