Red Cross setting up shelter at burning school

Posted: Updated:

The American Red Cross of Central and Western Massachusetts is sending a crew to a fire burning at Valley View School in North Brookfield.

The school is on 91 Oakham Rd. in North Brookfield in Central Massachusetts.

Red Cross Regional Director of Communications Dawn Leaks says they're sending 35 cots to the school to set up a shelter for the students.

Leaks says the students are being sheltered in the school's gymnasium.

On Valley View's website the school describes itself as, "a small, private boarding school providing a year-round therapeutic environment for boys between the ages of eleven and sixteen who are having difficulty coping with their family, the world around them, and themselves."

CBS 3 Springfield will have more on this breaking news story as it continues to develop.
