A fatal crash on Interstate 91 North, two miles north of the state line, closed all or portions of the northbound lanes for over four hours on Sunday night.
The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m.
State police told CBS 3 that the crash was between a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a tractor-trailer vehicle.
They said it appears cars were avoiding debris in the road, which turned out to be couch cushions. They believe that as the jeep avoided the debris, it slammed into the tractor-trailer and caught on fire.
The victim, whose identity is not yet known, died due to the fire.
All northbound lanes were shut down for nearly two hours, but at approximately 10:30 p.m., police tweeted that all lanes were back open to motorists.
Late Sunday night, state police asked for the public's help in their investigation.
They said they are looking for anyone who may have seen a dark colored pick-up truck pulled over on I-91 North in Longmeadow, just prior to the crash.
Anyone with information on that vehicle is asked to contact the Springfield barracks at 413-736-8390.
