Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Three women and two children in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield have been displaced after a house fire Wednesday morning.

According to our media partner Masslive.com, firefighters responded to 13 Cedar St. after reports of heavy smoke coming from the attic of the 2.5 story home.

Masslive.com said firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof because the fire was in the attic.

According to officials no injuries have been reported but say the fire caused about $40,000 in damage.

Masslive.com says the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross has stepped in to help.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
