TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

More people in Tucson bike and walk to work now than they did 10 years ago – but the City of Tucson is still falling behind other cities when it comes to supporting these pedestrians.

Tucson News Now found out how residents will be able to make their voices heard on making Tucson's streets a little friendlier – by answering questions on a bike and pedestrian survey.

The City of Tucson knows some people don't feel comfortable walking or biking on busy streets, which is why the city would like people to fill out the survey.  It can be found on the City of Tucson website.

The City's bike and pedestrian program called Tucson on 2, aims to make Tucson a safer place to walk and ride bicycles, by helping raise driver's awareness of both.  The program was launched on December 10, by Mayor Rothschild.  The Tucson on 2 campaign is just the first step toward zero pedestrian and cyclist deaths, and making Tucson a ‘more live-able and walk-able' city.

Tucson is in the process of planning a network of residential streets, which is one option to avoid heavy traffic.  They want the public's opinion on what else would inspire them to leave their vehicles at home and walk or bike more.

The survey can be taken here -  http://www.tucsonaz.gov/limesurvey/index.php?sid=95598&lang=en or on the City of Tucson website or at www.tucsonnewsnow.com.
