PD: Driver killed in U-turn collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A man was killed early Wednesday morning after making a U-turn near 43rd Avenue and Baseline Road, police said.

Coransen Tonechine, 34, was driving with his girlfriend in a Pontiac Sunfire shortly after 2 a.m. when he made an illegal U-turn and collided with a vehicle.

Tonechine was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

His girlfriend and the other driver, a 29-year-old woman, are expected to be OK.

Police said it's unclear at this point if he was impaired.
