Posted: Updated:
COTTONWOOD, AZ (CBS5) -

Cottonwood police are alerting local merchants that counterfeit bills are making their way into their cash registers.

During the past three weeks, business owners have contacted officers reporting a prevalence of fake bills in circulation.

The bills have been in all denominations, from $1 to $50.

People with any information about who may be passing the counterfeit money are asked to call the Cottonwood Police Department or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
