Gov. Deval Patrick is considering bringing in a "fresh set of eyes" to review the state's child welfare agency.

This comes after the Department of Children and Families came under fire after a 5-year-old Fitchburg boy whose family was under DCF supervision went missing and is presumed dead.

Patrick said the state may need a third party to come in and give a look at DCF operations.

The missing boy, Jeremiah Oliver, hasn't been seen since September.

Three workers at the agency's Leominster officer were fired.

The boy's mother and her boyfriend are facing charges.
