West Springfield native to sing national anthem at Pats, Colts game

She's got the pipes and now she'll be singing for the Pats. Michelle Brooks-Thompson is humble about her talent. She's been singing since she was a little girl and her gift brought her all the way to national television.

"I just so happened to make it to Hollywood and get a chance to share my voice and my talent and my whole background with America," she said.

From her stint on the TV show, The Voice, to singing the national anthem at Fenway Park, the West Springfield native's voice has become well known.

"I get a lot of support from Western Mass, so I'm thankful for that," she said.

Saturday she'll be singing in front of the thousands at Gillette Stadium and the millions tuning in to the big game.

"Of course I definitely said yes because it's a huge game, and to be asked to do it is such an honor, so I accepted," she said.

She's no stranger to the football field. Her husband played for UMass and was even drafted by the St. Louis Rams.

"He said to me yesterday, 'you can't mess this up, this is a really big game,'" she said.

She says no matter how many times she's performed she gets butterflies every time she steps out onto a stage.

"I get it all the time, even when I go to churches or events to sing because I know what people are expecting and sometimes they can be critical," she said.

But when you hear her sing, you'll understand why Saturday she'll be front and center.

You can watch the game right here on CBS 3 Saturday night at 8:15 p.m.
