Posted: Updated:

A Holyoke police detective was involved in a shooting Friday night.

Police Chief James Neiswanger told CBS 3 the detective approached two men in the area of South Elm Street when one of the suspects began shooting at him.

Neiswanger said the detective was not hit and is expected to be OK. His name is not being released at this time.

Massachusetts State Police also responded to the scene for assistance.

Neiswanger said one of the suspects they are looking for is a dark skinned Hispanic male. He has cropped hair and was last seen wearing jeans and a tan top.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Holyoke Police Department.
