Springfield fire officials said they pulled a body from a house that burned to the ground last night on Euclid Avenue.
The person who was initially missing lived on the first floor of the home. Fire officials have not confirmed whether the missing person was the person who was found this afternoon.
Eleven people have been left homeless by the two-alarm fire at a two-family home in Springfield.
The blaze in the Forest Park neighborhood was reported just after 1 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters were hampered by below-freezing temperatures.
Springfield Fire Department spokesman Dennis Leger says the home appears to be a total loss.
The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The Red Cross says a family of seven, including five children, was displaced from one unit. Residents of both units were placed in hotels and provided emergency funds for meals and clothing.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
