Break-ins in Springfield, Chicopee possibly connected

Posted: Updated:

Police in two Western Massachusetts cities are investigating two early morning convenience store break-ins that may be connected.

The first break-in happened at the Citgo station at 119 Boston Road in Springfield.

Sgt. John Delaney of the Springfield Police Department told CBS 3 that the break-in happened around 12:40 a.m.

Two suspects took cigarettes and cigars.

The detective bureau is investigating.

About an hour later, Delaney said the Chicopee Police Department requested a Springfield K-9 unit to assist with a break-in at a convenience store on East Street.

Chicopee police told CBS 3 that two suspects, wearing dark hoodies, smashed in a window and stole cigars and cigarettes.

Delaney said surveillance video from both locations appear to show suspects that match similar descriptions.

No arrests have been made.
