Springfield teen shot at home during robbery

Posted: Updated:

Springfield police are investigating after a 19-year-old was shot inside his Cambridge Street home just after midnight Friday.

The victim answered his door, and two masked men armed with handguns forced their way into his home, located at 52 Cambridge St., the victim told police.

The intruders demanded that the victim give them his "stuff," according to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.

A fight then broke out and the victim ended up getting shot in the rear end, Delaney said. The masked thugs then fled the apartment and the wounded victim gave chase down the street.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. The teen denied to police that he deals any type of drug.
