Big E preps for next winter storm, continues to clear snow

Posted: Updated:

Workers continued to remove snow with dump trucks and bucket loaders from the massive parking lots and fair grounds at the Eastern States Exposition on Tuesday morning.

While the Big E is most popular in September, there are several expos throughout the winter months, including the bridal expo in January, the RV Camping and Outdoor Show in February, and Frank Maratta's Auto and Race-a-rama Show in March.

Hampden, Hampshire and western Franklin County was placed under a Winter Weather Advisory until 8 p.m. The National Weather Service issues these advisories when there is the potential of 3 to 6 inches of snow for much of the advised area. Downtown Springfield is expected to be around 4 inches with this storm, according to CBS 3 Meteorologist Mike Skurko.

Eastern Franklin County, on the other hand, was placed under a Winter Storm Warning along with north-central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. These locations may pick up 6 inches or more Tuesday, Skurko said.
