Falcons and their fans "think pink" at Saturday night's game

Posted: Updated:

The Springfield Falcons played a special game Saturday evening at the Mass Mutual Center. It was the "Pink in the Rink" breast cancer awareness game against the Providence Bruins.

The Falcons wore special pink uniforms and invited those in attendance to also wear pink.

The event was sponsored by Noble Hospital to celebrate survivors, raise funds for the hospital's programs and increase breast cancer awareness.

"I think it's very important to have events like this, it makes the public aware," said Dr. Steven Schonholz, medical director of Noble's comprehensive breast program. "Even the outpouring today at Pink on the Rink is amazing. I think it just shows the support that the community has regarding breast cancer and the programs out there to find a cure."

Noble Hospital holds fundraisers for breast cancer support throughout the year.

Information on other fundraisers for 2014 can be found on their website at http://www.noblehospital.org/.
