The Urban Wildlife Rehabilitation organization hosted a public skate fundraiser on Sunday afternoon at the Mullins Center on the University of Massachusetts campus.
All the money raised will go towards medical care, food and shelter for injured, ill or orphaned small mammals.
While the organization is pleased to take care of these animals, it does not deny that it can be expensive.
"We need to have vaccines [for] all the animals that come in," Daveda Howe, founder of Urban Wildlife, said. "If they are injured and have infections we have to buy antibiotics. This is all done on our dime. Fundraisers like this that can help us to keep doing what we're doing."
