TPD seeking answers in November shooting death of local teen

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Police continue to seek information in the death of a Tucson teen who was targeted by a group of individuals on the city's south side.

It happened Nov. 16 of last year.

Nearly four months later, still no arrests in the case.

18 year old Antonio Flores was minding his own business with a group of friends at a south-side Circle K when somebody drove up and shot at the group with a pellet gun. Fortunately nobody was hurt just yet -- but tragically that would change over the next few minutes.

It was little after 10 PM that night, when Flores and several of his friends roll up to the Circle K  near Campbell Avenue and Drexel Road.

"They just cruising around," said Lydia Arguellez, the victim's mother.  "They were gonna get some more sodas and then all this came about. They were just innocent -- at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Father Dennis Flores agrees.

"They got down out of the truck and somebody drove by and shot them with airsoft BBs," he said.

"So they jumped back in the truck to chase the truck to take pictures of the license plate number and the people in the other car just started shooting up the truck...shooting my son, piercing his heart," Flores said, tears streaming down his face.

Just like that, the life a of promising Tucson teen was tragically cut short.

The suspect vehicle was described a dark-green SUV or crossover vehicle with several people inside.

It's unclear how many opened fire.

But the victim's pickup was hit multiple times as the suspects reportedly fled south on Copper Plate Avenue.

"They do have some leads that they're still looking into," says Tucson Police Sgt. Pete Dugan.  "But they're trying to reach out to the public now and see if anybody knows any kind of information from that evening, even the smallest piece of evidence or information could be something big for us in conjunction with what they already have."

Exactly what police have at this point remains a mystery.

Whereas the victim's family has so many unanswered questions and a seemingly endless amount of misery.

"Please come forward and help us out," the victim's mother says.  "Because he was a great, great man.  He doesn't deserve this."

"(I just miss) him hugging me, kissing me on my cheek every time he saw me," says father Dennis Flores.  "Just watching him be able to grow up and I can't watch him do that any more."

If you have any information about last November's shooting death of Antonio Flores call 911 or 88-CRIME.

A reward up to $1,000 will go to the person whose tip leads to an arrest in this unsolved case.
