The Board of Selectmen in Ludlow unanimously voted Tuesday night to suspend former police Lt. Thomas Foye without pay.
Selectman Aaron Saunders tells CBS 3 the suspension is effective immediately.
It comes after Foye was arrested for allegedly stealing drugs from the police station evidence locker last year.
A Hampden County jury handed down an indictment against Foye last week.
Before Tuesday night's vote, Foye had been suspended with pay.
According to our media partner MassLive and The Republican, Foye was at Tuesday night's meeting to address the board saying, "I love this town and spent a lot of good years with a lot of good, dedicated service ... I went into surgery a hero and came out a drug addict, and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy."
