Waterford cops make arrest after pursuit

Waterford police arrested a man after a vehicle pursuit and foot chase.

According to police, Waterford officers began looking for Eric Smith-Walker of 22 West High Street, New London who was wanted for a parole violation.

A Waterford officer saw Smith-Walker parked in a car at the Dunkin Donuts on Route 85, and tried to approach him. Smith-Walker then took off, engaging the officer in pursuit onto Route 85. Smith-Walker continued to engage the Officer in pursuit into New London, where he eventually fled his car on foot.

Waterford and New London Officers worked together and took Smith-Walker into custody on Elm Street.

Smith-Walker was charged with engaging an officer in pursuit, reckless driving, interfering with an officer, taking a motor vehicle with the owners permission and operating under suspension. Smith-Walker was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court March 24.
