Officials with the Charleston Police Department say a man is okay after he was struck by a car and fell over a bridge in West Ashley.
Authorities say the incident happened Monday afternoon when a man was standing near his truck on the North Bridge after running out of gas.
CPD officials say a car began to slow down to avoid hitting the stalled truck, but another vehicle ran into the car which then struck the truck. The man standing on the bridge said he was then struck by a car and fell off the bridge.
Earlier, police officials and motorists reported that the man had jumped from the bridge in order avoid being hit by the car.
Officials with CPD say the man is okay, but was taken to the hospital to be examined.
Pictures from viewers showed the man walking out of the marsh, and appearing to be okay.
