Hunters Hollow, KY (WAVE) – There has been a complete failure of the sewage treatment plant that serves the city of Hunters Hollow in Northern Bullitt County.
Anyone who pays the Hunters Hollow Sewage Treatment System is affected.
EMA officials say residents should reduce the amount of waste water they are producing. Any water that is used for washing dishes, laundry or other functions goes into the sewage treatment system.
Officials want all citizens to avoid any contact with the waters of Brooks Hollow Creek or any of its tributaries until further notice.
City officials, including Hunters Hollow Mayor Linda Parker, met Sunday morning to discuss short-term and long-term solutions to the problem.
Bullitt County Sanitation crews, Bullitt County Emergency Management officials and the Kentucky Department of Natural Resources visited the plant Sunday afternoon.
Officials will reconvene Monday morning to further discuss how to replace the failed sewage treatment plant.
At this time, it is unclear whether the problem will affect other Kentucky waterways.
