State police arrested a city man Sunday morning, after they said the car he was driving hit a pedestrian who was at the scene of a separate crash on Interstate 91 northbound in Springfield.

Police said the suspect fled on foot after hitting the pedestrian, but a K-9 team was able to track him down.

Both the pedestrian and the original crash victim were taken to Baystate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police charged 27-year-old Julio Perez with operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle under a suspended license, according to a news release to CBS 3 from the state police media relations office.
