Thanks in part to your help, a different sort of military mission has been accomplished very quickly.
Monday, we told you about Kerri Clemons of Arab, who bought what ended up being a soldier's diary at Mike's Merchandise in Guntersville several years ago.
Bryan P. Bailey served in Afghanistan from 2003 to 2004. After looking through the journal, she was determined to return it to him or to his family.
Now a Sergeant First Class, Bailey was located at Fort Benning GA, less than 24 hours after our report.
Sergeant Bailey said he's not only amazed his diary wound up in Guntersville, but that Kerri worked so hard to return it to him. "That someone actually cared that much to find out what happened to me, whether I survived or not, speaks great things about this country and the people and how they support us," he said.
We put SFC Bailey in touch with Kerri Clemons Tuesday. Kerri said she and her husband Tim will travel down to Fort Benning next week to give him his journal. He, in turn, will give them a tour of the military base.
No doubt, there will also be a hug or two shared amongst them. What a small world!
