COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
As he continues to be sought for questioning in connection with an assault inside a New York City nightclub, WIS has learned former Gamecocks cornerback Victor Hampton was arrested in Columbia late last week on a disorderly conduct charge.
According to an incident report from the Columbia Police Department, officers were called to an apartment on South Beltline for a report of a domestic argument on April 6. The responding officer says when he arrived, Hampton was arguing with his 20-year-old sister, Victoria.
The incident report says the argument was so intense, Hampton's mother had to physically restrain his sister and officers had to separate the siblings.
"I asked both subjects to stop yelling and they would stop for a second then start right back yelling, threatening each other, calling each other obscene names, using fighting words and stances," reads the report.
Both Victor and Victoria Hampton were arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
Hampton was released on a $262.50 bond.
Late Wednesday Hampton, through his attorney, Lowell Bernstein released the following statement:
As has been reported, in the early afternoon on April 6, 2014, my sister and I were involved in a verbal argument inside our duplex home. Unfortunately, this minor disagreement led to both of us being arrested for disorderly conduct. Frankly, this matter was nothing more than a common sibling spat. My sister and I are extremely close. We are embarrassed and regret this situation and the way it reflects on our family, and we are working to put this behind us.
Hampton and fellow former Gamecock Kelcy Quarles are being sought by the New York City Police Department for questioning following the assault of club promoter.
