EMPORIA, VA (WWBT) -

An Amber Alert for a missing North Carolina child has been canceled after the 10-month-old was found safe in Virginia.

The Durham Police Department confirmed to NBC12 that Tamiyah Elssy Bryant was found safe in Emporia at approximately 12:00 p.m. Sunday.

"This is a Happy Easter for this family," stated a press release issued by the police department.

The initial alert was issued on Saturday after police said Bryant was taken by her father that morning. According to WNCN, Rodney Bryant, 26, was taking his girlfriend Elssy Olivares to work. When Olivares attempted to get out of the car, Bryant prevented her. Later, Bryant reportedly made Olivares get out of the car on Interstate 40 in Durham, North Carolina, but kept driving with the child in the car.

Sunday afternoon, an Emporia McDonald's customer spotted Bryant's vehicle in the parking lot and dialed 911. Emporia Police arrested Bryant without incident and found the infant girl in the car, unharmed.

The Durham Police Department said they will assist in transporting Olivares, the child's mother, to Emporia to reunite with her baby and recover the vehicle. The Wake County Sheriff's Department in North Carolina will be handling Rodney Bryant's extradition from Virginia.

Bryant is facing charges of first-degree kidnapping, assault on a female, and communicating threats.

Durham Police said that Rodney Bryant had previously made threats to kill himself and the child.
