A cat missing just shy of two years was reunited with his owner in Greenville on Tuesday.

The cat's family said Bruno went missing in May of 2012 while being boarded.

"We went to a family wedding in Philadelphia and we boarded him for the first time," Bruno's owner Ellen Autenzio told FOX Carolina.

"The day before Emilia was going to go pick him up he escaped from the vets," Autenzio said.

But the Autenzio family never gave up hope.

The family said the cat's microchip was what helped reunite them.

The Autenzios were notified that their cat had been found this week when Greenville County Animal Care Services found their name on the microchip implanted in Bruno's neck.

"If we had not microchipped Bruno, we would not have gotten him back. I don't believe we would have seen him again," Autenzio said.

They rushed from Spartanburg to be reunited with him and bring him home.

"We have a dog, Frank, and he hadn't seen Frank in two years, so we didn't know what the reunion would be like, so he crossed the room and just loved all over the dog the second that he saw him," Autenzio said.
