HCC hosts annual fundraising 5K

Posted: Updated:

For the fourth year in a row, Holyoke Community College raised money in a healthy way Sunday morning.

HCC hosted its Cougar Crawl.

The unique 5,000-meter race takes participants on two laps through the college campus.

Proceeds from the event go toward the school's Building Healthy Communities fund.

Organizers told CBS 3 that the money works in several different ways.

"We're raising funds to renovate and outfit a nursing center just off the back of our campus," said Erica Broman, executive director of the HCC Foundation.

Approximately 100 runners took part in Sunday's Cougar Crawl.

Once they were done, they got to enjoy a post-race barbecue.
