Officials say two teens were taken hostage by two men who barricaded themselves inside a Union County home late Monday night and into Tuesday morning. Both teens made it out safely and SWAT teams eventually arrested the men after a six hour standoff.

A call to Stallings Police came out from Aurora Boulevard, which runs between E. John Street and Pleasant Plains Road in Stallings around 9 p.m.

A family member of the two teens told police her niece and nephew were inside her home and weren't alone.

The family member told WBTV's Mark Davenport that two men forced their way into her home and past her 13-year-old nephew at the front door. She said she could hear the entire event happen because her nephew immediately called her.

"I can hear him telling the guys, 'Please don't shoot me.'" she relayed.

Before the men broke into the home, the woman said her nephew told his older sister to go hide in a back bedroom.

"I really don't have any idea why someone would want to break into my house while my niece and nephew were here," said the family member. "They were really terrified."

So afraid the woman's niece texted her the entire time she was hidden in the back bedroom.

"All she was texting me was help me, help me, help me. I can hear him upstairs in the attic. I'm scared please help me," the woman told WBTV.

But just before 11 p.m., officials said that the woman's nephew walked out of the home with one of the men who broke in. The family member says the man tried to pose as a family cousin. Police did not fall for the lie and the man was arrested.

A few hours later, the family member says SWAT teams busted out a side window of the house and pulled the 15-year-old female out to safety.

They then fired tear gas into the home to get the remaining man outside the home.

"I heard the canisters going off and saw the smoke," said a neighbor who was woken up after initially hearing the loud speakers calling for the man to exit the house.

SWAT teams entered the home after the man would not leave the home. The second suspect was found hiding in the attic and was taken into custody.

Wesley Quinn Baker, 26, and Henry Lee Clyburn, 29, are charged with first degree breaking and entering and second degree kidnapping.
