Posted: Updated:

Police have identified the driver of a car involved in a two-vehicle crash in Hopewell Tuesday afternoon in which two sisters in the other vehicle were killed.

Hopewell police said a 1999 Cadillac SUV driven by William Reese of Hopewell entered the intersection of Oaklawn Boulevard and Dinwiddie Avenue, and struck the passenger side of a 2001 Nissan Altima. Police identified the driver of the Altima as Carol B. Jones, age 69. The passenger, the victim's sister, has been identified as Shirley A. Tarvor, age 71. Both Jones and Tarvor are from Disputanta.

There is no word on charges being filed against Reese, however a press release from Hopewell police said that witnesses reported Reese appeared to have driven through a red light.

The accident shut down eastbound lanes of Oaklawn Boulevard from Dinwiddie Avenue to Cedar Level Road.

Any witnesses to the accident should call the Hopewell Police Department at 804-541-2222.
