TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Generations of Waite High School graduates gathered on Saturday night to reminisce and take a trip down memory lane.

A gala dinner was held at the SeaGate Centre to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the east Toledo school.

The school was named after Morrison Waite, a former supreme court justice who once practiced law in Toledo.

In the last 4 years, the building has received a twenty million dollar renovation.

Among the 18-hundred alumni in the crowd tonight were Connie And John Carter, who met at Waite and eventually married.

"It was a great experience. I played football there. She was a cheerleader there. We had a great time," said John.

Connie agreed.

"It was very community oriented. Everybody knew everybody and supported each other," said Connie.

The school also got an autographed picture and congratulations letter from President Obama.
